Why do we need to remove Chlorine from Tap Water?
Tap water contains chlorine and chloramine that are designed to kill bacteria and destroy microorganisms. In most circumstances, this is great because they help to prevent the spread of diseases.
Unfortunately, chlorine is not so great for your houseplants because high levels of chlorine can be incredibly damaging to the roots of plants. As any plant lover will know, the roots are important because not only is there where plants take in water but it's also how they get the nutrients which are needed to help them to grow. Not only that, but plants need strong roots to enhance their strength and ability to stand up straight.
Chlorine also doesn't discriminate about the microorganisms that it attacks, meaning that it can also destroy nutrients found in soil that is essential to plant health.
Conditioning your tap water with Taptonic will help avoid adding stress to your house plants; helping minimise burning their sensitive roots and unsightly burnt leaf edges.
How to use Taptonic Chlorine Remover
- Add 2 drops for each litre of tap water to nullify the effects of both chlorine and chloramine.
- Water your plants, as you normally would. Taptonic works instantly, so there is no need to leave the water to stand overnight.
If you are unsure of the best method to use for watering specific plants (top or bottom watering for example), we recommend doing some research into the best watering technique for each plant species you own and watering accordingly. Remember that plants have different needs and no two plant types will be completely the same.
TOP TIP: We recommend using water that is room temperature, to avoid shocking the roots with cold water.
